Computer Requirements

Basic computer hardware/software requirements:
Computer with:

  • Internet access and email access
    • Web browser such as Netscape 5.0 or Explorer 5.0 or higher.

    • JavaScript and Cookies enabled

    • High speed modem – 56K minimum
    • Internet Service Provider
    Active e-mail address
    • Platform of Windows 98, 2000, XP or MAC OS 8.6 or higher
    • 64 MB of Ram
    • 1 G of free disk space
    • Microsoft Word (For some classes you may also be required to have Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, or other applications. Edison does not provide these programs to students.)
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader 4 or higher
    • Quicktime, Flash, or other plug-ins for playing media files may also be required for some courses.

XP and JavaScript: 

If you have a new computer with Microsoft XP as the operating system, you may need to download an additional Java plug-in.  (You will be prompted by your browser if this plug-in is not installed on your computer.) To download, please visit:
